2026 Quartzsite Rally Report

2026 Quartzsite Rally

January 15-20, 2026
Quartzsite, Arizona

WOW!!!  What a great year at the 21st annual Trek Gathering held in Quartzsite, Arizona January 15 – 20, 2026.  All who missed it, really missed a great one.

28 Treks plus about 5 SOBs gathered in the desert for our no host, no cost annual gathering.  It is almost impossible to express in words what a great event 2026 was.  The weather was superb, near full sun very day, really comfortable daytime temperatures, zero rain, and ZERO wind as well. The weather was so good we managed a campfire every night of the official gathering plus multiple nights following as well.

Trekkers swapped ideas, experiences, and other information while simultaneously enjoying a myriad of social events.  The best part were the lies told around the evening campfires. Oh yea, for those not present, too bad you missed Lee and the dog treat “episode”. FYI his name has changed to Barky just so you know.

Scheduled events began Thursday the 15th with a joint Happy Hours featuring appetizers and heavy hors d’oeuvres, greetings, introductions, etc. shared by all and followed by an evening campfire.

Friday contained two “open session” Tech Talks at 10 am there was one focused on the 91 thru 94 Treks built on the Isuzu Turbo Diesel chassis followed at noon one for all the later Treks. Both Tech Talks were open format discussing literally any subject or question posed from the group. The discussions were so informative the first session ran right into the second one and some Trekkers attended both.  At 4 pm we gathered for an afternoon Happy Hour again with really yummy snacks. The evening campfire came later.

Saturday was a big day; how do you choose from such tempting choices. The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation and RV Show, known to us as the Big Tent, opened at 9 am while simultaneously a large group of toads were lining up for an excursion to The Desert Bar for a unique lunch experience, while others chose to hang out at the gathering site, go on a hike, or maybe take a nap.  Again at 4 pm there was a large gathering for Happy Hour and snacks followed later by our evening campfire.

Sunday morning started off with a real bang as Pat, David and Lucy cooked up a stupendous breakfast for all of us which was immediately followed by the world famous Trek Flea Market/Swap Meet combined with tours of some of the Treks. Of particular interest was a 95 3030 with 26,000 miles that had been in storage for many years. This Trek was in near showroom condition and featured the long windows (only two are known to exist). 4:30 pm brought the world famous Quartzsite Pot Luck. It is absolutely amazing the phenomenal dishes Trekkers can create out in the desert. Everyone left stuffed and happy.  Of course the day was wrapped up with another great campfire.

Monday was essentially a free day. Many folks used it to visit or re-visit the Big Tent, some chose to peruse the flea markets at Tyson Wells and other spots around town, and still others chose to catch up with old friends or spend a bit more time with those new friends they just met. Of course at 4 pm we gathered for Happy Hour and snacks followed by our evening campfire.

Tuesday is the official departure day where many Trekkers chose to move on to the next Trek Adventure, however many stayed for an additional day or week or ???.

Most agreed that 2026 was an exceptional year in many respects, the weather was exceptional, the people great, the campfires phenomenal, the food, the socializing, the ???, and then the ????.

Plan on joining us at the Quartzsite Trek Gathering 2027, if you are not there, we will talk about you. Seriously this is a great event that should no Trekker should miss. Mark your calendars now for January 13th thru 17, 2027 for next year’s event.
